The Star Wars empire has remained well in the entertainment world’s center-stage since the original movie release in 1977. For the past few weeks, fans have been enjoying The Mandalorian via the new streaming service Disney+, and it’s already become a smash-hit in it’s own right. A big reason for this is an undeniably adorable character being referred to as “Baby Yoda,” a moniker that isn’t quite accurate but is definitely descriptive enough (while the fox-eared baby is the same species as Master Yoda, it is not a younger version of the famed Jedi and is simply named “The Child” in the series).

Warsies looking for “The Child” merchandise prior to the release of the series were sorely out of luck since the studio didn’t want to leak any spoilers regarding the storyline and the pint-sized Yoda look-alike. As a result, there’s been a notable gap in the release of official Baby Yoda merch, allowing a flood of knockoffs to fill the void. Several people have reported being duped by these third-party products, while others seem more willing to accept a “less than” version of the real thing. Either way, just remember to do your research if you plan on gifting “The Child” to your child this year.

Without further ado, here are a few of our favorite Baby Yoda pieces to be announced thus far:

“The Child” Tee

T-shirts are the long-lasting and frequently-used merchandise every fan should own, and this 100-percent cotton tee offers both the adorable character and the comfort. Available in white with just the image or dark gray with the character’s name printed above, there will be no doubt that the Force is strong with you when you’re wearing it. The same print is also available in a ¾-sleeve jersey-style tee with the words “The Mandalorian” printed below it. There are also black-and-white tee options for kids.

Jigsaw Puzzle

For Star Wars fans who also enjoy working on jigsaw puzzles, this is an easy choice. Unfortunately, it won’t ship until December 30th, so plan accordingly. But with 500 pieces and a bonus poster, you’ll be able to enjoy The Child’s adorableness again and again.

PopSocket

One item you can get in time for stocking stuffing is the licensed PopSocket with The Child’s image printed on it. PopSockets are obviously “pop”ular with all ages as a cell phone accessory, and they make a great way to show off your love for the little alien.

Bobblehead

There’s no better way to expose your Warsian ways than with a Baby Yoda bobblehead. Coming in spring of 2020, the Funko POP! doll will be available in two sizes. It’s a little bit creepy and a lot bit cute.

11-Inch Plush

Though it’s not expected to be released until at least February 2020, we thought this one was just too cute to leave off the list. The plush is currently on preorder and will likely be the most anticipated product in the entire lineup. After all, who can resist that face?

Disney’s decision to delay the release of instantly iconic “The Child” merchandise has been met with mixed reception, but with confidence in consumers’ ongoing desire to be part of the Star Wars story, the company now seems to be releasing new items almost daily.

“It was important to us that the reveal of the new character, the Child, be a special moment for fans, and we could not be more thrilled with the response,” says Paul Southern, Senior Vice President of Licensing and Franchise for Lucasfilm. “Today, we’re excited to release new products for preorder on shopDisney.com, and are continuing to work closely with our licensees and retailers to roll out additional items including toys, collectibles, plush, games, apparel, and more, allowing fans to celebrate the newest addition to Star Wars.”

The post The Mandalorian’s “Baby Yoda” Merchandise is Both Adorable and Frustrating first appeared on Dornob.

Designers are always on the lookout for new clothing materials, sourcing products from the sea, food scraps, and cutting room floors. After all, in this zeitgeist of low waste, corporate accountability, and sustainable practices, it seems like the lens is constantly being aimed at ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle — especially in the textile industry, which has been labeled one of the top polluting industries on the planet. But even with all of that background, it’s pretty shocking to discover a t-shirt made from milk.

The Limitless Milk Shirt not only breaks the mold for being the first shirt made from milk, but the Los Angeles-based company behind it, Mi Terro, has also picked up the no-waste torch by using milk that would otherwise have been tossed, typically gathered directly from the farm.

The upcycled milk is converted to yarn via a special fermentation process that drains it of all fat and water. The remaining powdered milk is dissolved, dried, and purified to isolate the casein protein, which is turn stretched and spun into yarn. The milk yarn is then mixed with Micromodal, another environmentally-friendly fiber made from beechwood. Note that processing beechwood leaves behind no by-products and uses about 20 percent less water than cotton manufacturing.

The combined processes result in a material that is flexible for comfort and breathable, making it a great option for t-shirts. The team soon realized that these qualities made it a good option for other clothing, too, which is why they’ve since added underwear to their wardrobe of products. And since milk is naturally antimicrobial, the shirts are also anti-bacterial and repel smells common when working out or sweating on a hot day. Claiming to be three times softer than cotton, wearers describe the Limitless Milk Shirt as silk-like, soft, and stretchy.

With the goal of complete comfort in mind, the Milk Shirt is manufactured with premium threads and seamless design to avoid any rubbing or skin irritation and encourage a long-lasting product.

Even by using milk that otherwise would have been thrown out, the Limitless Milk Shirt and add-on underwear cost some money to produce, but luckily the company’s Kickstarter campaign was fully funded in the first few hours. The campaign officially comes to a close on September 15th, but at the time of writing, over $25,000 had been pledged towards the meager $3,000 goal.

Mi Terro Global, the company behind the milk fabric clothing, aims to offer sustainability in every step of their manufacturing process. To this end, their items are shipped in reused or sustainable materials to minimize waste and avoid the use of harmful plastics. Durability of the Milk Shirt is another main focus in order to avoid the fast fashion waste that’s so prevalent these days. And who doesn’t want a shirt that lasts a really long time?

Water consumption is another concern for Mi Terro, as it should be throughout the entire textile industry. However, consumers also play a part in water use during washings. To counter it, the company encourages consumers to wash their Milk Shirts half as often to save water and keep chemicals present in detergent from being sent into the water system. Besides, the anti-microbial components in the tees mean they don’t need to be washed nearly as often as normal ones. Best of all, Mi Terro is partnering with Eden Reforestation Projects to plant 10 trees for every shirt sold.

The goal was to enhance men’s apparel to enable the modern man to better do what needs to be done. This philosophy has carried on till today. Our products are sculpted with the idea that function fashions form. The feature set for Exuvius products is always a combination of the two. Our design philosophy is to create items that will enhance a person’s inherent strengths. Our products, like the people who use them, should do many things – and do many things well. After all, these products are essentially a natural extension of the Exuvius man.”

The post Secret Agent Multi-Tool Shirt Stays first appeared on Dornob.

There are few sensations quite as satisfying as pulling a shirt straight from the dryer during the chilliest days of winter and putting it on while it’s still warm. Unfortunately, that feeling never lasts for more than a minute or two.

For those of us who are always cold but dislike the feeling of bundling up under multiple heavy layers, a lightweight piece of clothing that stays warm for hours on end sounds like a dream. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, that dream might now be a reality.

The Flare is a shirt that actually generates its own heat thanks to three integrated carbon fiber heating pads connected to a hidden battery pack in one of its zippered pockets. Created by a company called Blanc, which proudly touts its product as the “world’s warmest shirt,” its heating zones are placed on the abdomen, lower back, and upper back to transmit heat directly to your vital organs, warming you up quickly and efficiently. While all of that sounds like it would be kind of bulky and annoying to wear, the heating pads are surprisingly thin and flexible, and the shirt itself looks as slim and light as any other.

The company is on a perpetual quest to “design the warmest shirt on the planet,” explaining: “One major challenge is how to keep warm but also to not overheat or sweat. Most of us layer up to keep warm but then end up getting too hot. When resting or starting an activity, you’re cold, but when active, you can overheat. We thought, what if there was smart clothing that adapted to the body’s needs?”

Three different warmth modes allow the wearer to customize the shirt’s temperature at the touch of a button (located along the hem on the left side). The low setting provides five hours of long-lasting warmth, the medium setting turns up the heat for about three and a half hours, and the high setting ensures you stay toasty no matter where you are and what you’re doing, whether you’re skiing down slopes or taking a long walk in the snow.

The Flare is made of lightweight quick-dry polyester that wicks moisture away on its insides and features handy thumbholes to help you keep the sleeves in place. It’s semi-fitted for a relaxed feel that’s still snug enough to transmit heat. The shirt comes with a 6000mAh power bank about the size of an iPhone 6 that remains snugly within the side pocket and offers about five hours of juice between charges. In warmer weather, you can take it out of the shirt and use it on its own to charge your devices on the go.

When it comes time to wash it, just take out the power bank and toss the shirt into the washing machine like you would any other garment. Blanc says it’s tested the shirt in harsh conditions and put it through many washing cycles to ensure that it could stand up to long-term use. The company offers a one-year warranty on both the shirt and battery.

The Flare is currently available for pre-order for $160 on Indiegogo, with shipping expected to begin in March 2019.

The post This Battery-Powered Shirt Keeps You Warm While It Charges Your Phone first appeared on Dornob.

All of the illustrated mothers are surrounded by tears – tears that were caused by their dirty-shirted kids. But those tears are more than they appear to be. They are actually small deposits of laundry detergent.

All a college kid needs to do is to throw the shirt into a washer and press the ‘start’ button – no measuring needed. When the shirt comes out, it is clean and the mother’s tears are gone. The shirt is a totally adorable idea, but to be of any real use to college students it would need to be loaded with about a year’s worth of detergent.

The post Self-Washing Shirt is Easy Enough Even for College Students first appeared on Dornob.

Whether a waterless washing machine would work is probably the single biggest question one would have about such a device, but the idea behind it is hard to argue against. After all, who would not want to skip the hassle of heading to the dry cleaner each time for those few dress-clothing items that require special care?

According to its designer, Minsung Bae, a combination of humidity, ionization, ozone and air pressure can kill bacteria and remove stains clinging to a shirt – in practice, one has to wonder what the mechanism is for removing these dirty elements after finishing a cleaning cycle.

“The suit cover comprises two inflatable layers between which the clothing is placed. First of all, the O inside the cover is converted to O (ozone), effectively killing all the bacteria on the clothing. Then the fabric is blasted by pressurized air from tiny perforations in the panels to remove any dirt and detritus. No detergent or external water source is required.”

What would be really neat: a timer feature that would allow one to wear the warm and finished product in the morning, to get that feeling one has when putting on a freshly-dried pair of pants or newly-pressed dressy shirt. Power supply, waste management and some other technical details look like they have yet to be resolved, though, in addition to these other potential accessory functions.

The best part, if it works as it should: you could take these self-contained dry-cleaning containers on the road with you, and set them up in your car or hotel room to do your dirty work while in the middle of an extensive business trip. Wheels along the bottom and a pull-out handle on top make it perfect for air travel, in theory, assuming it does not constitute a too oddly-shaped (and high-tech) piece of over-sized luggage according to the TSA or specific airline.

The post Waterless Washing: Portable Dry-Cleaning Machine first appeared on Dornob.

Designs like these starts with a simple slip of language sometimes: ‘hey, what if instead of tees we went with teas – little bags that look like shirts?’ someone asks, and the rest is history – a casual language choice becomes a creative and unique new design idea. Anyone want to try on a tiny tee bag, or wear a tea shirt? Confusing, sure, but clever and cute as well.

Like colorful plastic hangers in miniature form and an alternate material, the triangular paper tops of each tea bag suspend the t-shirt-shaped transparent form below – which can then drop off into a cup while remaining connected via a string like its more conventionally-shaped cousin.

Of course this iteration is fairly simple – limited hanger-only color options, simple white tee shirts and so forth, but now imagine if designer t-shirt companies get into the mix? Who knows, we could see tee bags from the big names come to life – collectible custom designs, funny-sayings mini-shirts, xxxl sizes and tall variants, formal men and long-sleeve women ones, the list goes on. First round design idea, however, goes to: Soon Mo Kang.

The post Unique T-Shirts: Casual Tee Shirt Designs in Tea Bag Sizes first appeared on Dornob.

Flipped over, however, and it reveals a simple set of instructions for converting the cardboard shell into a shirt or coat hanger within a few short steps.

If you, like many of us, always find yourself short on hangers then this is in the product design innovation for you. Moreover, it is simple, cheap and easy to construct and could be easily marketed and licensed to existing environmentally-savvy manufacturers around the world.

The post Shipping Eco-Friendly Products in Mulfunctional Packages first appeared on Dornob.

From pinning flowers on one another to the classic boy/girl clothing swap – the boyfriend letterman jacket worn by the doting-but-chilly girlfriend – there is a long tradition to trading clothes within a relationship, but few so clever and well-conceived as this.

Monoxious has come up with a creative way to make a typical button-down boy’s shirt into a workable skirt that actually (almost) looks like it was made to be worn around the waist by a woman rather than being designed for a man.

Utilizing buttons in unconventional cross-patterns and considering drapes to avoid revealing too much leg below, one could almost imagine seeing this fad take off with fashion models on runways or at least clever store clerks trying to tie shirts around mannequins.

The post Relationship DIY: from Boyfriend Shirt into Girlfriend Skirt first appeared on Dornob.

When the world ends, where will you be … but more importantly, what will you wear? Dressing for disaster: not exactly what they meant when they said to wear something to suit any occasion, now is it? Better than just bullet-proof, this body-molded Kevlar and breathable neoprene ‘Urban Security Suit’ packs one helluva an aesthetic punch – on top of stopping anything short of an atomic bomb.

Simple whites, grays, browns, dull greens and blues let the accents speak for themselves in this unusual top by Dutch conceptual clothing designer Tim Smit: a bulky side pocket that lets you pack a pistol that is easy to grab on the go (and be intentionally obvious about it at the same time) as well as a handy pullover hood complete with an integrated chemical weapon-resistant gas mask. Zombie proof? Maybe not, but it’ll help you look cool when the apocalypse comes.

In short: this crazy creation is an extreme design crafted with any situation in mind, but just as stylish as it is end-of-world ready – a form-fitting creation that will certainly stand out when you are one of the last men standing. However, while it might protect you in a war zone it is likely to be seen as terrorist-ready attire in more tame settings, so beware when you wear it. OK, so it might not be the kind of hooded sweatshirt you will find this fall at the Diesel store, but if the doomsayers are right: perhaps it should be!

“Who says protecting yourself from sniper attacks or chemical warfare needs to be ugly business? Certainly not Dutch designer Tim Smit. His ‘Urban Security Suit’ will be all the rage in a war zone near you. Made of stylish neoprene and strategically lined with body molded kevlar, this runway show stopper will be THE must have accessory for your next war, skirmish, struggle, conflict, combat zone or civil strife you find yourself in or starting. Aeon Flux eat your heart out.”

The post Apocalyptic Accessories: Fashion for the End of the World first appeared on Dornob.
