It’s a question we’ve all had at some point in the process of redecorating our homes: “how is that color going to look on my walls?” Unfortunately, traditional paint swatches are often so small, it’s hard to imagine how the shades printed on them would look when applied to an entire room. Plus, those samples are almost always dyed to mimic colors instead of being coated with the actual paints, leaving plenty of room for inaccuracy and potentially wasting a lot of your hard-earned money. Luckily, the folks over at Samplize have created a wide variety of removable paint decals to take care of these problems once and for all.

Available in two sizes (12 X 12 inches for “on-the-go color” and 24 X 24 for for “large format visualization”) and six different finishes (flat, velvet, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, and gloss), Samplize’ decals aim to meet every decorating project’s individual color-sampling needs. According to the company website, each one is hand-painted using the specific paint color you request — same company and everything. Samplize currently offers the top colors from brands like Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, and Dunn-Edwards, and it hopes to offer even more color lines in the future as it continues to grow. The company’s FAQ page reads: “If you would like us to stock a specific color that we do not currently carry you can request it using our online color request form!”

When testing out the decals, we used one of each size: A 12″ X 12″ swatch for Benjamin Moore’s “Palladian Blue” and a 24″ X 24″ one for the same company’s “Wet Concrete” color. Both swatches bore an eggshell finish. While we didn’t have samples of the actual paints available to us for a side-by-side color comparison, it’s worth noting that the colors on the decals appear to be a little bit lighter than the ones featured on Benjamin Moore’s website — despite Samplize’ claim that all of its decals have been colored using two coats of the actual manufacturer’s paint.

Nonetheless, the overall experience of using the decals proved to be a total breeze. The “peel-and-stick” application advertised on the Samplize website is exactly as simple as it sounds, and it took all of about ten seconds to successfully get the decals nice and flat on the wall. Removing and repositioning them was just as easy thanks to their non-damaging adhesive backing. If you’re nervous about ruining your walls with sticky swatches, you can rest assured knowing you’re in good hands with Samplize.

The wall decals lived up to virtually every other one of the features that they advertised. They handled corners exceptionally well, and they allowed the texture of the walls underneath them to fully come through for an ultra-realistic appearance. Air bubbles were either non-existent or kept to a minimum, especially in the case of the 12″ X 12″ swatch. While the large one was a little harder to smooth out (it may have required a couple of “re-do” applications), it still ended up being easy enough to flatten in less than a minute. Afterward, we even found the process of sticking the decals back onto their release paper relatively painless — something that the company describes as much “trickier” than it actually seems to be.

Currently, Samplize’ smaller decals are going for $4.95, while the larger ones will run you $6.95 a piece. If you want the company to make a custom decal for you, you’ll be looking at a one to three-dollar price increase. Overall, if you’re looking for a super quick and easy way to determine how that color is actually going to look on your wall, you’re far better off using something like Samplize than you would be with regular old manufacturer-provided swatches.

The post Product Review: Samplize Removable Paint Decals first appeared on Dornob.
