The ultimate test of any mobile home design is the cubic footage it occupies when on the road versus when it is deployed, and on that metric, this new Doubleback is definitely a winning idea.

The flip-top is a familiar element in many travel vans, but the pull-out back is a lightweight yet robust way to effectively double the space found in the back of the vehicle.

Back supports drop down to support the extension when it is pulled out. Unlike many more flimsy variants, this added area can support hundreds of pounds of weight and packs up in seconds.

A very basic kitchen, some seating and beds are all the DoubleBack camper van boasts, but realistically, for a minivan, that is far more than a camper can generally expect, even a classic like the VW Transporter can barely fit in the essentials.
