The trend in Japan is to turn inward with houses, creating a rich multidimensional experience bridging both horizontal and vertical plains – this home is in some was prototypical, but also exceptional.

Tucked inside a powder-coated steel facade are a series of white spaces punctuated by towering bookcases that span up to two stories at points, and stand out with light wood tones.

Concrete stairs and steel ladders help access the upper levels both for occupation and for accessing whatever treasures the owners choose to display from floor to ceiling.
