The Kant Desk by Nils Holger Moormann has straightforward crossed ‘X’ legs made of wood, and detail-articulated panels showing how the surface pieces are slotted together.

Birch plywood is covered in either straight back or basic white, minimalist options in keeping with the overall simplicity of the design and idea.

“This desk is characterized by its distinctive edge. Books, files and a number of other items can be stored in the kink of the table top, so that the work top itself remains clearly arranged. So much „enlightenment“ on the desk would definitely please namesake Immanuel. Kant, with a working depth of 70 cm (total depth 105 cm), is the organizational wizard of the family. Kant Sekretär on the other hand is tailored in dimensions and proportions to the living area.”

“Kant did not enter our collection using the conventional route. Because we were actually already working on another idea with Patrick Frey. When he introduced us to Kant one day, we fell in love immediately. Haven’t we all wished for a desk that allows us to place something on a surface where it can be arranged and even presented? A rather obvious idea. But someone had to first think it up. In this case it was actually two people: Patrick Frey had developed Kant during his studies in conjunction with Markus Boge.”

About Nils Holger Moormann

“Nils Holger Moormann founded his eponymous company in 1982 in Aschau im Chiemgau with the aim of offering young up-and-coming designers a platform for their designs. A short time later, the company celebrated its breakthrough with Wolfgang Laubersheimer’s Gespannten Regal and laid the foundation for the coming decades. With unconventional ideas and the unrestrained passion of the creative team, Moormann keeps bringing a breath of fresh air into the industry. Innovative designs, new approaches such as tool-free assembly and a pinch of humour play just as important a role in the corporate philosophy as the aspects of sustainability and regionality.”

The post Shove Stuff: Minimal Desk with Simple Built-In Back Shelf first appeared on Dornob.
