Bookcases are generally one-size-fits-all affairs in theory, but in practice the space between each shelf is either too much or too little. This one adapts dynamically with each volume added or subtracted.
Dubbed Chuck by German designer Natascha Harra-Frischkorn, the constituent shelves only a few millimeters thick, each layer bends to accommodate the volumes between the sheets.
Minimalist metal end caps hold the ultra-slim planks in place but allow them to bend as needed in the space between. The result is sculptural, interactive and functional at the same time.
