Emma Hack is a woman of many amazing talents, a combination sculptor, photographer, painter and illustrator who has combined her skills to create a stunning series of photographs featuring the beauty, fragility and adaptability of the female form.

To begin with, she has images of partial forms that play with the balance of illusion and reality, figure and setting – paintings that do not completely cover their subjects but begin to blend them with their surroundings in creative ways.

Many of her works, however, have progressed to full-fledged decorative camouflage – immersing her subjects in their visible surroundings. What started for Hack as face paintings for children and make-up for the fashion industry has become an art form with a life of its own. Emma has grown a world-wide cult following.

As her work has evolved, she has also begun integrating further elements such as animals and objects that overtly sit at the forefront and make the disguise of the women holding, touching or petting them slip even further into the background.

About the artist:

“EMMA HACK is an Adelaide-based artist working in the unique medium of body paint installation and photography. Exhibiting extensively throughout Australia since 1999, Emma’s astounding artworks have since captured the attention of collectors and art lovers worldwide. Emma has received great acclaim for her refined body paint camouflage technique; through a combination of painting on canvas, body painting and studio-based photography, her work evokes a rich array of visual narrative and magical realism.”

“Best known for her Wallpaper series (2005-2010)- in which she painstakingly camouflaged the human form by hand painting her models into the remarkable designs of the late Florence Broadhurst. Emma Hack’s diverse artwork collections draw inspiration from the unique Australian flora and fauna, as well as Oriental influences.”

The post Women Camouflaged as Wallpaper by Emma Hack first appeared on Dornob.
