One short video shows how a few small interventions underneath a bare-bones staircase can create an entire micro-habitat for lounging, reading, climbing and more.

Thiemo Hildebrandt started with “an initially concealed space beneath the staircase” and ended up with an area for “sitting, napping,¬†awaking, reaching, discovering and finding [or just] hiding or simply resting.”

It really does not take much – a suspended bed, upper platform and knotted rope ladder (or swing, depending) create a kind of interior jungle gym, while the film illustrates various ways to take advantage of these additive elements.
