The bed area is open to the living space below, providing openness but also relative privacy for anyone lying down upstairs. A simple step down from an upper landing creates a further sense of enclosure while also doubling as a shelf  – a kind of impromptu nightstand for books, lights and so on. Simple and inexpensive plywood frame the structure and basic primary paint and bedding colors add variety to the linear spaces.
