Some designers seem to think everything looks better in black. In this case, they may be right. What was once a hodge-podge collection of used office furniture has been given a rather slick second life by i29 as a series of upcycled interior design objects, all through the even application of thick black paint.

Set against a gray logo and otherwise white furnishings, floors, walls and ceiling, the overall effect of this simple design strategy is powerful – a unified modern look despite the vintage furniture reused from the inhabitants’ previous office and saved and recycled from other places certain destruction.

Everything from retro pool tables and plush couches to vintage light fixtures and antique lamps are given a new life and a sense of togetherness that these odds and ends never would have had without the simple twist of a color change. They arguably look better than they did new, at least to those of us with eccentric modernist tastes.

Aside from saving money by reusing old furniture and time by using spray paint, this strategy is also of course an eco-friendly move – particularly since the paint applied is considered green. Have a can handy yourself? This might be a great do-it-yourself way to add new life to your own home office furniture.
