Standing around all day at an event can be pretty taxing to your legs, feet, and the rest of your body. The problem is only amplified if you have pre-existing injuries that make it hard to stay on your feet for long. The Sitpack from Mono + Mono is a minimalist approach to taking a load off.

When you use the Sitpack, you are neither sitting nor standing. You sort of lean your bottom against a horizontal bar while a vertical bar supports your weight. It looks a little like a pogo stick without the foot rests or the spring. It’s easy to see how a device like this could be useful for people who can’t stand for long periods of time for health reasons, or even just when you’ve worn uncomfortable shoes a little too long for an event.
Sitpack supports your weight
The Sitpack is meant to be extremely portable. When folded up, it’s about the size of a tall drink can. To deploy it, you flip up the two outer parts which become the sitting surface. Under that, a telescoping leg unfolds to support your weight. The height is adjustable to fit your unique body and sitting position.
The device is made of ultra-strong polycarbonate and can support a person up to 150 kg (around 330 pounds). When folded, it’s just 16.8 cm tall (or around 6.6 inches) and is small and light enough to fit in your pocket. While the current prototype was 3D printed, the designers envision their product being made on a large-scale basis entirely in Denmark in a family-owned manufacturing facility.
When you’re using the Sitpack, you aren’t completely relaxing all of your muscles as you do when sitting; you’re still engaging muscles to keep you balanced. This means that your body maintains proper posture and healthy blood flow to the legs. Mono + Mono are currently raising funds for the project on Kickstarter.
