Perhaps the French language barrier (or simply a straighter sense of humor) prevented Patrick Bérubé from realizing it, but there is an obvious play on words to be had with this particular work of installation art.

In this case, of course, ‘ocean floor’ refers to the floor being like an ocean – rippled and wavy in a way one could almost miss were it not for the miniature boat bringing it into focus.

The white scale model sets the perspective for the visitor while also drawing the eye downward to the subtle curves – a neat trick and one wonders if enough time and patience could make it a worthy way to tackle home flooring, too.
