]]> A tiny Tel Aviv apartment has become a studio space and private gallery with a fold-down bed, holding an artist’s personal collection and providing room to work. Architects Ranaan Stern and Shany Tal adapted a 20-square-meter (215 square feet) space in an urban location with a series of built-ins made to the precise measurements of the artist’s collection of 2D pieces.

A sliding screen moves out of the way to reveal a pull-down bed; the screen is covered in holes that accommodate small wooden dowels to hold and display photographs and other small works of art. The dowel system can also hold tools and art implements.

An entire wall is covered in drawers of various sizes that are just right for the artist’s needs. When opened, they reveal a colorful mosaic on the painted sides.

Building all the way up to the ceiling takes full advantage of the compact space, finding plenty of room for storage while retaining an open, airy feel enhanced by a large window.
