Enjoying the steam of a sauna and spending a day out on the water in a boat are two of life’s simple pleasures. Architecture group goCstudio has combined the two into one fantastically relaxing floating sauna that will soon set sail on Seattle’s Lake Washington.

The floating sauna will be located out on the lake and visitors will reach it by kayak. The small platform is kept afloat by more than two dozen 55-gallon flotation barrels that are held together by an aluminum frame.

A wooden deck provides a place to catch some sun or to just watch the surroundings and enjoy the beautiful lake. A ladder leads up to a platform atop the sauna enclosure, offering a place from which to dive into the water if you need to cool off after a hot sauna session.

The sauna enclosure itself is 8 feet X 8 feet and has a tiered seating setup to fit several people. A wood-burning stove fuels the steam that fills the Alaskan Yellow Pine enclosure. The team hopes to raise enough money to make the concept a reality via a Kickstarter campaign – and we can’t wait to set sail to the Good Ship Relaxation.
