So much relatively clean water pours off buildings of all kinds every day. Some people reclaim that water using gray-water retention systems but for many of us that isn’t feasible due to costs, time or an urban plot of land. A much simpler way to recycle some of your rainwater is to channel it into growing plants on the side of your building as in the designs shown above.
These works are extraordinary – as in: more than ordinary – but why couldn’t they be appropriated for everyday use and carried by hardware stores around the country? They need not be quite so expressive, either, and could be much more bare-bones while still fulfilling their function. Regardless, the next time you think about where to drain water from your roof consider the options.
