A series of shelves hint that this cabin in the woods may not be as straightforward as the otherwise-normal shape would suggest. In fact, it is designed around two (or more) species rather than one.

The offset platforms that surround the exterior are made for occupation by forest owls and other woodland creatures in rural Austria (images by Adolf Bereuter).

Meanwhile, while the one-way-windows provide a way for people to view these creatures from inside without disturbing them or scaring them off.

The stick-frame structure is at once traditional in its outline and unconventional in its details, letting anyone who spots it from a distance understand it has a purpose that goes beyond an ordinary retreat for human occupation.
