This is design with a twist, albeit a small and subtle one: one simple step replaces the cumbersome handle-added approach typical to most classic and contemporary cabinet designs, eliminating unnecessary hardware (and looking lovely in the process!).

Architect, furniture and product designer Mick Born realized something so obvious that no one tends to think about it: handles are usually most useful for people who do not own the house or object they wish to open.

They are ‘easy access’ indicators for guests or in public spaces, but not needed (perhaps even counter-intuitive) for those places we store our most personal and precious objects.

With this simple solution in hand, so to speak, it was just a matter of applying the design to likewise stoic and decor-free cabinetry – he has done so with rigorous minimalism, letting shapes, proportions and materials speak for themselves.
