There’s nothing worse than having to share a refrigerator with a house full of roommates. If they don’t leave old pizza crusts entombed within, they’re stealing your food. One day you have a whole loaf of bread, the next you’re looking at a wheat heel. Austrian design student Stefan Buchberger was fed up with moldy remains in the fridge, so he designed the Flatshare.

His design is so clever, he was one of nine finalists in the 2008 Electrolux Design Lab design contest. The Flatshare is comprised of interlocking refrigerator sections, scalable up to a full-size refrigerator made of a base and four compartments. The Flatshare is customizable – choose colors, patterns, add a whiteboard, a bottle opener and more.
