One short video shows how a few small interventions underneath a bare-bones staircase can create an entire micro-habitat for lounging, reading, climbing and more.

Thiemo Hildebrandt started with “an initially concealed space beneath the staircase” and ended up with an area for “sitting, napping, awaking, reaching, discovering and finding [or just] hiding or simply resting.”

It really does not take much – a suspended bed, upper platform and knotted rope ladder (or swing, depending) create a kind of interior jungle gym, while the film illustrates various ways to take advantage of these additive elements.
