Usually “two-faced” means deceptive and sneaky. When it comes to backpacks, though, it translates to choices. Or perhaps dilemmas, since both options are cool. Which to choose?
You’ll be facing these choices soon, as Andrew Chivote’s 2 Face Backpack 2 just passed the funding finishing line at Kickstarter and will be going into production.
The backpack comes with a slew of options. As you can see in the photo above, one of the pack’s faces is quilted and has two zippered pockets, and the other is less showy, with a smooth, streamlined look and one wide pocket along the bottom. One for work, one for play? One for travel, one for school? It’s up to you.

You can also choose between tan and black for your bag. Both are sturdily constructed from top-grain Italian leather. Where’s it manufactured, you ask? Well, you might be surprised to learn that the 2 Face Backpack is made in Transylvania. Yup. (No garlic jokes, please.)
Want more decisions? (We know, it’s getting exhausting…but it’s so worth it.) You can buy small (fits a 9.7-inch tablet), medium or large (both of these can accommodate a 15″ Macbook). It really depends on how much stuff you generally schlepp.

There’s also a wallet to match, and a clever detachable laptop compartment (shown above) that’s perfect to carry on its own if you just need a few papers and your computer for an out-of-office meeting.

It’s obvious that the designers put a lot of thought into the 2 Face Backpack. For example, they say, “The hand strap is removable and can act as a safety lock, so you’ll have peace of mind when you’re at a coffee shop, and it becomes part of the shoulder strap.”

They also stitched the main zipper around so you have a 180-degree opening, making for less cussin’ and easier finding of those items that usually lurk hidden away in the darkest recesses of a backpack.

The straps are padded with memory foam is ease your load, and a detachable strap converts the bag from backpack to shoulder bag. (Handy when you’re trying to wedge yourself into a packed subway car or coffee shop. We’ve all been there.) There’s even a clever detachable pocket on the shoulder strap that’s perfect for stashing coins or tickets, so no more panicky scrambling to find those in a hurry. (Yes, we’ve been there too.)

You won’t be surprised to find a padded laptop compartment in the 2 Face–it’s pretty much a standard feature these days. The difference in this one, though, is that it’s detachable, so it can be used like a clutch (above). And there’s a nifty pocket to stow that charging wire or the earbuds you’re prone to lose. We’re not saying you’re going to be more responsible with your accessories, but hey, these options can only help!
