Vintage Bathroom Interior Evokes Faux-Retro Nostalgia

There is something warming, reassuring and deeply moving about certain kinds of ancient buildings or antique settings – and this bathroom is one excellent example of something that has a mystique about it despite (or because) of its age and roughness.

There is no single element in this room that most of us would buy individually off the shelf – the tattered bathtub, the aging side table and the antique mirror-and-cabinet set all look individually, well, less than desireable to put it nicely. Morever, most of us would not leave our interior walls in such an unfinished state.

What is remarkable is how when you see these elements juxtaposed, recombined in a single setting, they gain a new kind of appeal – reminding us of a grandparent’s house, perhaps, that never existed or of where our ancestors might have lived comfortable little lives.
