The natural flexibility of wood leads some designers to play up its malleability visually and functionally, as with this elongated lounge chair design.

Jung Myung Taek used strips of dark walnut with exposed screws to emphasize the critical intersection of base and seat at the tip of the object, originally exhibited in Tent London then Basel, Switzerland.

Whatever sense of austerity and minimalism are conveyed by the materials and finishes, though, are also offset by the cartoon-like elongation of the shape as a whole – not to mention the smile the designer is clearly trying to hide in his picture.
