Dreaming of sleeping on the Seine? This will soon be possible with Paris’ latest attraction and “playground,” Off Paris Seine, a floating river hotel. The converted catamaran, which will be based on the Quai d’Austerlitz, is a collaboration between the French design boutique hotel chain Elegancia and Citysurfing.
The €11 million (circa 11.75 million U.S. dollars) floating hotel will have 58 rooms (including four suites), a bar, restaurant, panoramic lounge, solarium, swimming pool and summer terrace. With other partners in the project including Seine Design and Novaxia Group Bpifrance, it is part of the mayor’s mission to revitalize and “pedestrianize” the Left Bank riverbank.
Citysurfing took on the challenging of creating Paris’ first floating hotel as a “new urban experience” that is a “responsive, profitable and reproducible model to form a foundation for the creation of economic, social and cultural value.” Citysurfing creates “smart floating solutions,” floating hotels in metropolises as well as remote locales (see image above), river shuttles, eco yachts and more.
No additional photos of Off Paris Seine are available yet. The hotels of the Elegancia group tend to be very colorful and quirky with innovative design and vibrant details (see Hotel Exquis and Hotel Idol above). Off Paris Seine will open to the public in the spring of 2016 with rates starting from €160 for a room and €400 for a suite.
