High Volumes: Huge Home Bookcase Spans Multiple Stories

You may remember this remarkable floating box home from a previous article, but what we failed to mention was the marvelous story-spanning, built-in wall bookcase that reaches from the below-grade entry level up to the second-floor ceiling.

The driving motivation behind the overall house design related to connectivity – openness from the outdoors to the inside and across all floors, with one area flowing neatly into the next.

Within that planned scheme this multi-level shelving system acts much like a contemporary hearth, providing a colorful focal point for gatherings but drawing the eye up from the first floor and back down from the second as well.
