Carbon-fiber footwear sounds a bit excessive, but these were in part designed to walk on the moon (conceptually – not in reality) so sparing expenses would not make much sense.

Created as a prototype by United Nude, these go-anywhere, elegantly minimalist basic blacks will get you fairly far without much material to tuck away – interlocking supports, thin strips of fabric and a few spindly laces are all there is to it.

It is hard to say whether there would be a market for travel shoes requiring ten minutes worth of assembly, but the notion that each piece is interchangeable (making it easier to pick-and-choose pieces to fit any foot) is quite intriguing. Now if only they could solve the problem of attempting space walks without a suit.
