How many of us can honestly say we have never accidentally pushed on a door when we should have pulled? It’s an easy mistake to make, particularly when other things distract us. Thankfully, designers Eun Ah Kim, Jinhyuk Rho & Maria Rho came up with the Arrow Door Handle concept to make it simple to tell which way is which.

The concept itself couldn’t be less complicated: rather than a standard straight bar, the Arrow Door Handle is a metal bar in the shape of an arrow. The point of the arrow indicates whether the door should swing in or out.

Just as with plenty of other concepts, there are some kinks to be worked out in this design. For instance, the full effect of the unique door handle can only be seen when it is installed on a glass door – the flat part of the handle would simply look like a regular bar on a wood or metal door.

While it may not be a perfect concept, the Arrow Door Handle gives designers the perfect starting point to begin redefining an object we see – and take for granted – every day.

The post Arrow Door Handle Points the Way for Confused Visitors first appeared on Dornob.
